Consider enrolling in the Innovation Capstone course 0697-511-70.

Start collecting a bibliography.  Use http://www.mendeley.com/    And use Google Scholar or another tool to find out who has cited the Walter experiment in recent years, read the papers, and you'll know the state of the art.
